If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or "like" me on Facebook. I say the word 'vagina' a lot. If vaginas scare you, run for your life.
I had a very similar situation with my college roommate. We were best friends for over 26 years but we slowly started drifting apart, due to different career paths and miles between us. Then we had a falling out. We tried to patch things up but things were never the same. We have not spoken in about 2 years. I have come to realize that people come into your life for a reason and at different seasons during your life. Embrace those times. When that season or reason no longer exists, move on with your life and be happy and grateful for the new people you are now sharing it with.
It always sucks to lose a friendship. I have had many friendships where we just slowly drift apart. I think part of it is growing in different ways. And the way I get through this without being a total basket case is by thinking that some people come into our lives for a short time and to teach us something, and when that’s done they move on and we move on because we’ve had our lesson.
It’s hard to lose a good friend. I see stuff all the time about how good friends stay friends no matter how long it has been since they last talked, that they just pick right back up. I have never known that to happen. Things change, people change. Being able to maintain a friendship throughout all of it is more rare than a lot of people think.
I have been trying to comment on the Powder Room site for the last 15 minutes. Can’t get it to work. I’m sorry about you and your friend. It’s sad when people just move away from each other after being so close.

I’m on my way, but first can I say that I miss you? I haven’t stopped by here in so long! You have been on my mind, though. Big hugs!
I’ve read several blog posts here tonight about people losing friends…
Must be something in the water…
I hate it when friends go away… but it happens.
